Days of '47 Youth Festival

For Sawyer's birthday, we took the younger 3 and headed downtown for the Days of '47 Youth Festival. It's free and the kids look forward to it every year.

Here's our pictures:

In front of the Native American Exhibit. Ric says they were very fussy about which dances they allowed the public to photograph.

I brought my own chair.

Connor tries to encourage Sawyer to go on the Spiderman bouncy slide. Sawyer was pretty leery of the bouncy entertainment.

Sawyer gets an origami frog.

Connor put on this hat and said in his french accent, "Stupid American Pigs!"

Sawyer wears the hat to watch Annalyn sing at the Karaoke booth.

Connor built a periscope at the Home Depot exhibit.

Annalyn built a birdhouse.

Ric encouraged Sawyer to build a whiteboard and corkboard for me because he knew I wanted one.

They gave all the kids these great construction aprons.

Getting tired and silly.

Sawyer enjoying a hotdog/seefood.

Dimples! Oh he's cute!

Annalyn gets a butterfly at the face painting.

Connor's a dragon.

Carbon dioxide foam at the mad science booth.

Annalyn's balloon butterfly. This popped on the way to the car and she was sooooo sad.

Sawyer got a fish on a hook. I must have been getting really tired because I couldn't tell that it was a fish. I said, "Oh, did they make you a mouse on a stick?"

Dragon Chef with a balloon sword.

Sawyer plays in the rubber duck ponds.

That little circle is a carbon dioxide bubble.

The kids stop at the Mad Scientist booth again on our way out to see more carbon dioxide foam.

  1. We tried to sit a little ways away from Sawyer and let him have fun in the little fish pond pools with his toys. The people running that booth got after us and told us to make sure to sit closer to supervise him. They were insistent, even though we weren't really very far away- about 50 feet. Then I noticed that the booth was an exhibit about how water is unsafe at any depth, attempting to inform the public about the dangers of leaving children unattended by even shallow pools. How gauche was I to use THAT exhibit to entertain my 4 year old while I sat for a spell?
